Monkey Face Painting Tutorial
A playful, cheeky monkey with a round muzzle patch and big eyes.
The monkey is a cheeky, lovable design that's incredibly fast to paint. The key is the contrasting tan muzzle patch — get that right and the rest of the design falls into place naturally.
Tutorial Overview
Step-by-Step Instructions
Sponge the Brown Base
Using a sponge, apply a warm brown base across the cheek area to form the monkey's face.
Paint the Muzzle Patch
Sponge a round, oval-shaped tan/beige patch in the lower center of the face to form the muzzle.
Add the Pink Lips
Paint a small pink semi-circle at the bottom of the muzzle patch for the monkey's quirky mouth area.
Draw the Eyes
Paint two large, round, friendly eyes using black paint. Add white highlights inside each eye.
Outline and Ears
Use a round brush to add two large round ears on the sides of the face. Add tan centres to the ears.
Details and Nostrils
Add two small black nostril dots on the muzzle and define the face outline with a fine brush.
Banana Accent
Finish with a tiny yellow banana accent near the bottom of the design and some sparkle star dots for fun.
